A night of fashion statements that cover the endless stretch of crimson, leading from Fifth Avenue, up the dozens of steps to the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Great Hall. The Met Gala is regarded as one of the most exclusive social events of the year and considering it is formally known as the Costume Institute Gala, this means it is also one of the most anticipated events of the year for fashion aficionados.
This year’s theme was ‘China: Through the Looking Glass’ hence adhering to a ‘Chinese white tie’ dress code, and not unlike others it didn’t disappoint. Here’s a glance at some of my most favourite red carpet moments from the star-studded night.
In my opinion Kendall always ‘slays’ the red carpet, and this emerald green Calvin Klein number was no exception, it had me swooning! Pairing it with a simple makeup and sleek hairstyle did this dress the justice it deserved. Kendall’s glam team excelled themselves with this look!
A renowned Victoria Secret model, and don’t we know it with this red carpet moment. Subtle but nevertheless spectacular, she looks like the ‘Golden Goddess’ her makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury intended.
Can we just all take a minute to bow down to the queen! JLo was ‘on point’ last night! The dress, the makeup, the hair, she got it all right…. and that blush highlight…. I have no words – SENSATIONAL
Already a seasoned red carpet star, it was made all the more clear when she stepped onto the carpet in this romantic Diane Von Furstenburg dress. Pairing her dress with a rosy, highlighted makeup, inspired by Dolce and Gabbana’s iconic look, her makeup artist Patrick Ta justified my high expectations.
Peter Dundas absolutely killed it with his debut dress for Roberto Cavalli. As for her makeup artist and close friend Mario Dedivanovic I have no words to describe how much of an inspiration and incredible talent he is! This makeup… Need I say more than ‘pure perfection’!
She always floors me, from her classic red carpet gowns, gorgeous red hair and effortless beauty, Jessica is beyond beautiful. Last night wearing this slinky Givenchy Haute Couture dress by Riccardo Tisci was no exception!
Kate looks enchanting in this exquisite custom-made Michael Kors gown, paired with a simple red lip. Such a fun and effortlessly chic look in contrast to some of the event’s more outlandish, and risqué gowns, but nevertheless theme appropriate!
Bey or Alter Ego ‘Sasha Fierce’? I would say the latter. This look blew the other’s out of the water, making a statement like only the ‘Diva’ singer can. Bey’s high pony and ‘barely there’ ensemble had the paps sprinting back after she and hubby Jay Z arrived
‘fashionably late’ very late.
Last but not least Cara ensured she was one of the standout guests, opting for a simple cut-out jumpsuit paired a dark smokey eye and orient-inspired body art, that snaked up her arms and around her neck. A trailblazer on the red carpet, she outdid everyone for effort! (11 hours in the makeup chair)
